Nature Treasure Hunt

"The feeling of awe and sense of wonder arises from the recognition of the deep mystery that surrounds us everywhere, and this feeling deepens as our knowledge grows.”

- Anagarika Govinda

My creative challenge for you this month is to hold the intention of wonder and curiosity on your next walk in nature to create art.

Creating a simple space/altar for the new year is a great way to foster the feelings of wonder. Being with wonder is being with curiosity, which, in turn, helps us be with our creativity.

Collect what has fallen on the ground that you find interesting, beautiful, strange, ugly, moving, unique, artful, etc and use these materials to create art work that you can leave for others to admire. It may take the shape of a mandala or an abstract image.

Be with the process and discover how healing being with nature, wonder, curiosity and creativity can be. This practice will nourish your soul.

There’s a book I recommend to learn more about this: “Morning Altars” by Day Schildkret. It is a lovely book about how we can nourish our spirit (soul) through nature, art and ritual.
